Shariq Contractor

A rank holder at both the Intermediate and Final Chartered Accountancy examinations, he has been in practice since 1982. Mr. Contractor oversees the direct taxes and information systems practice of the firm.

Mr. Contractor is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fortis Trustee Company Ltd., and is also the Chairman of its Audit Committee for the past several years. He has been the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Bombay International School, and the President of the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society in 2002-03. In addition, he has also been the Treasurer of Rotary Club of Bombay and a member of the managing committee of Willingdon Sports Club. He is a member of the Finance Committee of the Bombay Gymkhana.

Mr. Contractor has authored various books of professional interest, namely, “Laws Applicable to Charitable Trusts”, “Provisions of Section 80HHC of the Income Tax Act – A study”, “Capital Gains – A Handbook” and “Taxation of Charitable Trusts”, "Fringe Benefit Tax - An Analysis". Besides this, he contributes articles to professional journals and other publications such as Economic Times and Outlook Money. He has also addressed audiences at various seminars, forums and conferences and has also presented papers on various topics of professional interest organised by various professional bodies, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Bombay Chartered Accountants' Society.

Gautam Nayak

A rank holder at both the Intermediate and Final Chartered Accountancy examinations, he has been in practice since 1986. Mr. Nayak oversees the tax advisory, international taxation and financial advisory practice of the firm. He leads the firm’s foray into the banking, financial services and insurance segment consisting of banks, insurance companies, mutual funds, stock-brokers and other capital market intermediaries, non-banking financial companies and other financial institutions.

Mr. Nayak has been president of the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society in 2004-05, and has been the editor of the Bombay Chartered Accountant Journal, a prestigious journal published by the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society with a circulation of over 12,000, from 2007 to 2010. He is a trustee of various employee trusts of Citigroup. He is currently the Chairman of the Taxation Committee of the Bombay Chartered Accountants' Society and a member of the Direct Taxation Committee of the Indian Merchants Chamber.

Mr. Nayak is also a prolific writer, having authored various books of professional interest, namely, “Transactions in Shares and Securities (including Derivatives) – Taxation & Accounting”, “Livestock Accounting and Taxation”, “Taxation of Charitable Trusts” and “Voluntary Disclosure of Income Scheme, 1997”. He contributes a fortnightly column on taxation for Mint, a leading financial newspaper, and a monthly column on tax controversies for the Bombay Chartered Accountant Journal. He has also contributed a number of articles for other professional journals and publications such as Economic Times and Outlook Money.

He has also often been invited to express his views on various intricate subjects of taxation to training colleges run by regulators and authorities, such as RBI Bankers Training College, National Academy of Direct Taxes and National Insurance Academy, and regularly delivers talks and presents papers at various professional seminars, forums and conferences all over India, organised by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Bombay Chartered Accountants Society, Chamber of Tax Consultants, Forum of Free Enterprise, etc.

Himanshu Kishnadwala

A rank holder at both the Intermediate and Final Chartered Accountancy examinations, he has been in continuous practice since 1985. Mr. Kishnadwala oversees the audit and assurance practice of the firm, particularly audit of large corporates, due diligence assignments and conversion of financial statements from Indian GAAP to IFRS and US GAAP.

Mr. Kishnadwala has been the President of the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society in 2006-07, and is a member of the Board and Chairman of Audit Committee of listed companies. Mr. Kishnadwala has also been a full-time senior lecturer in accountancy and computer systems with Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics for fifteen years (i.e. from 1986 to 2001). He is currently the Chairman of the Accounting & Auditing Committee of the Bombay Chartered Accountants Society, and a member of the Accounting Standards Committee of the Indian Merchants Chamber.

Mr. Kishnadwala has also authored various popular text-books on accountancy, financial management and taxation for commerce under-graduates, and a book on “Mandatory Accounting Standards – From Published Accounts”. He regularly delivers talks and presents papers on accounting and auditing subjects at seminars and conferences all over India organised by various professional bodies, such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (just to name a few). He has also delivered talks at the National Academy of Direct Taxes. Besides this, he contributes a monthly column to the BCAJ, and articles to various professional journals and other publications.

Nandita Parekh

A 2nd rank holder at the Intermediate and a gold medalist at the Final examination of Chartered Accountancy, Ms.Parekh holds the distinction of being the first woman to top the final CA examination. After securing a 2nd rank in B. Com. and 1st rank in M. Com., Nandita went on to pursue MBA from USA and worked with Coopers & Lybrand, an international accounting firm for a period of 2 years (1986-1988) in their Chicago office.

Before joining our firm, Ms. Parekh led the audit practice of Messrs. A. J. Shah & Company. She specializes in internal audit and risk advisory services, with emphasis on Banking and Financial Services, Shipping and Healthcare Industry. Ms. Parekh is a regular faculty at professional seminars, corporate training programmes and MBA schools, on topics such as practice management, risk management, innovations in internal audit, Corporate Governance and the role of Internal Audit. She has done pioneering work in pursuing the cause of women chartered accountants, in sensitizing the profession about the need for better work-life balance and has supported many women professionals in re-starting their professional careers.

Ms.Parekh has been actively associated with the Bombay Chartered Accountants' Society - since 2005, she has been a member of the Managing Committee and has held the post of Hon. Treasurer of the Society in the year 2009. She has been instrumental in designing "Internal Audit Studies", a long duration study course on internal audit, conducted by the Bombay Chartered accountants' Society. An academician at heart, she is actively engaged in mentoring articled students and young professionals.

Mohsin Contractor :

A senior chartered accountant, he has been in practice since 1954, specialising in advising clients on direct tax related issues and representing clients before direct tax authorities. He has acted as an arbitrator in several matters. He has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bombay Mercantile Co-operative Bank Ltd. and Chairman of the local advisory board of Oman International Bank. Mr. Contractor also serves as a Director on the Board of several companies.

Pramod Khatiwala :

A fellow member (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, he has been in continuous practice since 1972. Prior to joining CNK, he was associated with A. J. Shah & Company (AJS), Chartered Accountants since 1977 and was a founder partner of the Audit firm. Mr. Khatiwala has extensive experience in the field of audit and assurance services of Banks, Insurance and Shipping Companies. He has been a convener of the Matunga CPE Study Circle of WIRC and has delivered talks on professional subjects.

An experienced Chartered Accountant, he has been in continuous practice since 1982. Mr. Rao has extensive experience in the field of indirect taxes, particularly VAT and service tax. He focuses on VAT audits and advisory and representation services in the field of indirect taxes.

Saroj Maniar:

An experienced Chartered Accountant, a rank holder in the Final Company Secretarial examination and holder of a certificate in the Internal Audit Studies course conducted by the Bombay Chartered Accountants Society (BCAS), she has been in practice for over 20 years.

Mrs. Maniar’s area of specialisation is in the area of audit and assurance services, with focus on financial services. She has been actively involved in various professional activities conducted by the BCAS, and has been a member of the Taxation Committee of BCAS. She has delivered talks on various professional subjects and has also contributed articles to The Economic Times, The Times of India and to Outlook Money.

Ishraq Contractor :

A Chartered Accountant, he has been in practice since 1991. Mr. Contractor’s area of specialisation is in the field of exchange control regulations and international taxation (with particular reference to transfer pricing regulations, double tax avoidance agreements and expatriate taxation).

Mr. Contractor has also held various positions of responsibility, as Secretary of Indian Merchants’ Chambers’ Young Entrepreneurs’ Wing and as a member of the Accounting and Auditing Committee of the Bombay Chartered Accountants' Society. He has been the Treasurer of Rotary Club of Bombay since 2003.

Yusuf Hakim :

A Chartered Accountant, a Certified Information Systems Auditor and a Certified Internal Auditor, he has been in continuous practice since 1996. Mr. Hakim’s areas of specialisation are in the fields of corporate advisory services and service tax.

Mr. Hakim has also authored a book titled “Non Banking Financial Companies Regulations” and has served as a member of the Financial Services Committee and the Publication Committee of the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society.

Amit Pandit :

A Chartered Accountant, Mr. Pandit has been a Partner of the firm from April 2007 after an enriching association with the firm for over 3 years.

Prior to joining CNK, he was the Vice President of the Investment Banking & Consultancy Division of Darashaw & Co. Pvt. Ltd. He was also earlier with the Investment Banking Division of Mafatlal Finance Ltd. and a member of the Strategic Management Group of GTL Ltd. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Saraswat Co-operative Bank Ltd, India’s largest co-operative bank.

Mr. Pandit has a certificate in Internal Audit Studies, a course offered by the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society, and he is currently spearheading the Risk Management and Control Assurance practice of the firm.

Hiren Shah

Mr. Shah is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (FCA) and has completed Post Qualification Certificate Course in IFRS conducted by The ICAI.
Prior to joining the firm, he has been associated with A. J. Shah & Co. (AJS) since 1995 and became a partner in 2003. He specializes in statutory audit and assurance services with specific focus on manufacturing industry and financial service sector. His audit experience extends to large public sector entities.
He is well versed in conversion/consolidation of financial statements from Indian GAAP to IAS/IFRS.

Manish Sampat :

A Chartered Accountant earlier in individual practice for over 10 years, Mr. Manish Sampat joined the firm as a partner in April 2007.

Mr. Sampat is a member of the Managing Committee of the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society, the Convenor of its Human Resources Committee and also a member of its Accounting & Auditing Committee. He has been a member of the Membership and Public Relations Committee of The Chamber of Tax Consultants and a Managing Committee member of the Western India Automobile Association of India.

Mr. Sampat presently focuses on the audit and assurance and IFRS practice of the firm.

Nehal Shah

Ms. Shah is a fellow member (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, a Certified Internal Auditor (C.I.A), Certified Information Systems Auditor (C.I.S.A) and holds a Diploma in Information System Audit (D.I.S.A.). Prior to joining the firm, she was associated with A. J. Shah & Company (AJS), Chartered Accountants since 1997 and became a partner in 2005.

In AJS, she was a key member of the core team that established a niche practice area catering internal audit and advisory services to the capital markets segment. Ms. Shah's areas of specializations are internal audit and assurance services with the specific focus on banking & financial sector.

She is a member of the Professional Development Committee of WIRC and has been a member of the Human Resource Development Committee of BCAS.

Vijay Mehta :

A Chartered Accountant, Mr. Mehta has been a partner of the firm since 2005. Mr. Mehta’s association with the firm dates back to 1999, when he joined the firm as a senior manager. Mr. Mehta’s area of specialisation is in the field of audit and assurance services, including IFRS.

Purvi Malani

Ms. Malani is fellow member (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and holds a Diploma in Information System Audit (D.I.S.A.). She has done a Certificate course of Business Consultancy studies jointly conducted by the BCAS and Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. Prior to joining the firm, she has been associated with A. J. Shah & Co. (AJS) since 1995 and became a partner in 2005. She has 16 years of experience in rendering professional services primarily to the banking and finance industry, with special focus on Treasury and Forex Dealing operations.

Her areas of specializations are concurrent audits, internal audits and assurance services.

Suresh Agaskar :

A Chartered Accountant and holder of a Master’s Degree in Financial Services Management (MFSM) from Mumbai University, he has been in practice since 2002. Mr. Agaskar focuses on direct taxation as well as audit and assurance services, particularly for the financial services sector.
